TITLE: “Graphic displays of MLB pitching mechanics and its life-history evolution”
ABSTRACT: Based on PITCHf/x database available in Major League Baseball Advanced Media(MLBAM) website, we first discuss where to extract information of pitcher’s pitching mechanics, and then show graphic and geometric representations embracing their differences. We then build another graphic display containing all life-history trajectories of pitching-subtypes in pitcher’s repertoire, and demonstrate its capabilities of revealing pattern-changes before and after pitchers’ injuries, and also emitting signs of in-or-out-of tunes on game-by-game, even inning-by-inning bases.
