TITLE: “Testing Treatment Effect Heterogeneity in Regression Discontinuity Designs”
ABSTRACT: Treatment effect heterogeneity is an important subject of interest in economics policy analysis. This paper is the first to propose uniform tests for treatment effect heterogeneity under the regression discontinuity (RD) setup. Compared with other methods currently adopted in the literature, our tests have the advantage of being fully nonparametric and robust to weak inference. We apply the tests to study the impact of attending a better high school and discover interesting patterns of treatment effect heterogeneity that have been neglected by previous studies.
