Professor Jane-Ling Wang elected to Academia Sinica

We are very excited to announce that Distinguished Professor Jane-Ling Wang has been elected as Academician of Academia Sinica at the 34th Convocation of Academicians, held from July 4 to July 7, 2022 in Taipei, Taiwan. (The election was delayed for two years due to the Covid 19 pandemic, so it was in fact the 33rd Academicians election.)

UC Davis Statistics Graduate Program ranked 13th in nation - US News

In the latest US News rankings of graduate programs (published 3/28/22), our Statistics graduate program ranked joint 13th in the U.S. This is up from 31st in the previous rankings, and also ranks us 2nd in the UC system as a whole.  The Biostatistics graduate program ranked 24th among Biostats programs nationally.

Xingmei Lou won the Outstanding Student Teaching Award

Xingmei Lou was selected for the Graduate Studies Outstanding Graduate Student Teaching Award! This award recognizes the contributions of graduate students to teaching and learning at UC Davis.  Xingmei will enter the 5 year of her doctoral program in Fall 21 and has TA'd for many courses that have served many students including STA 13, 100, 108.  Congratulations Xingmei!

Prof. Drake's spring in-person Stats class recognized in L&S article

As we start planning for an in-person return this Fall, the College of Letters and Science published an article this week about the few Spring quarter classes that were held in-person on campus, and the instructors who worked hard to make that happen. Among them is Professor Chris Drake, who taught a STA 198 “Data Handling and Analysis" class in-person. You can read the full article here:

Prabir Burman named IMS Fellow

We are very pleased to announce that Professor Prabir Burman has been named among the 2021 Fellows of the Institute of Mathematical Statistics (IMS). Many congratulations to Prabir on receiving this well-deserved honor!

Professor Hans Müller to deliver the 2022 Rietz Lecture

We are very pleased to announce that Distinguished Professor Hans-Georg Müller has been selected to deliver the 2022 Rietz Lecture, one of the Institute of Mathematical Statistics (IMS) Special Lectures (https://imstat.org/ims-special-lectures/). He will deliver the lecture at the 2022 IMS Annual Meeting in London. The Rietz Lecture is given only every three years and is one of the highest academic honors bestowed by the IMS. 

Jane-Ling Wang wins Humboldt Research Award

We are very pleased to announce that Distinguished Professor Jane-Ling Wang has been named as the recipient of the prestigious Humboldt Research Award, by the Alexander von Humboldt Stiftung/Foundation. This was awarded in recognition of Jane-Ling's academic achievements.
