New Department Chair: Jiming Jiang

The Department of Statistics is pleased to announce that Professor Jiming Jiang has been appointed as the new Department Chair, from July 1 2023 until June 30 2026.

Professor Jiang joined the Department in 2001 from Case Western Reserve University, having received his Ph.D. in 1995 from UC Berkeley under Peter J. Bickel.

Jiming Jiang succeeds Alexander Aue in the role as chair, after Professor Aue served five years leading the department. During this time he led us through the Covid pandemic, hired seven new full-time faculty, and oversaw the establishment of the new undergraduate major in Data Science. We would like to thank Alex for his leadership and effort during these past five years.
