Professor Hans Müller to deliver the 2022 Rietz Lecture

We are very pleased to announce that Distinguished Professor Hans-Georg Müller has been selected to deliver the 2022 Rietz Lecture, one of the Institute of Mathematical Statistics (IMS) Special Lectures (https://imstat.org/ims-special-lectures/). He will deliver the lecture at the 2022 IMS Annual Meeting in London. The Rietz Lecture is given only every three years and is one of the highest academic honors bestowed by the IMS. 

Jane-Ling Wang wins Humboldt Research Award

We are very pleased to announce that Distinguished Professor Jane-Ling Wang has been named as the recipient of the prestigious Humboldt Research Award, by the Alexander von Humboldt Stiftung/Foundation. This was awarded in recognition of Jane-Ling's academic achievements.

Cody Carroll honored with 2019-20 Outstanding Graduate Student Teaching Award!

One of our Statistics PhD students, Cody Carroll, was selected to receive a 2019-20 Outstanding Graduate Student Teaching award. This award, which is sponsored by Graduate Studies, recognizes excellence in teaching by graduate students on the UC Davis campus. Cody is a 4th year PhD student, and has been a TA for some of our popular courses such as STA 103 and STA 260.

Seungyong Hwang wins ASA Best Student Paper Award!

We are pleased to announce that Seungyong Hwang, a graduate student in the Biostatistics PhD program, has been announced as a recipient of the 2020 'Best Student Paper' Award of the American Statistical Association "Statistics in Imaging" Section. Seungyong will present his work in a Topic Contributed Session at the 2020 Joint Statistical Meetings (JSM).

Yaqing Chen wins ASA Best Paper Award!

We are excited to announce that Yaqing Chen, a graduate student in the Statistics PhD program, has been announced as a recipient of a 'Best Student Paper' award:

Best Student Paper Award of the Section of Nonparametric Statistics of the American Statistical Association 2020 for her paper titled "Wasserstein Regression". Yaqing will present her work at JSM 2020.

Jiming Jiang & Thomas Lee Elected as 2019 AAAS Fellows!

Congratulations to our colleagues Jiming and Thomas for being among the leading scientists elected as 2019 Fellows of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. They are in a group of ten fellows from UC Davis. AAAS Fellows are honored for their invaluable contributions to science and technology.
